Scope

Design and develop Courtside, a next-gen court booking and membership management platform for a premium sports and wellness club. The solution needed to handle diverse booking rules for members and non-members, dynamic pricing, real-time availability, package management, and seamless check-ins—all while delivering a polished user experience that supports the operational needs of the club.

Problem

Most sports clubs and wellness centers struggle with inefficient booking systems, limited self-service capabilities, and rigid scheduling tools. Manual check-ins, inconsistent communication, and lack of real-time availability often lead to poor user experiences, administrative overhead, and missed revenue opportunities.

Courtside aimed to solve these challenges by:

  • Automating complex booking logic for multiple sports (Padel, Pickleball, Pilates, Recovery).

  • Enabling real-time facility visibility and member-only access to specific time slots.

  • Streamlining cancellations, transfers, and QR-based check-ins, reducing manual intervention.

  • Providing a scalable digital platform that caters to both daily users and long-term members, while respecting strict club policies.

Process

Worked closely with the club’s stakeholders to map operational workflows and membership rules. Conducted user research to identify pain points with existing systems—like unclear slot availability, manual bookings, and lack of transparency around pricing and cancellation policies.

Transformed business rules into intuitive digital experiences by:

  • Creating detailed user journey maps for members and non-members.

  • Designing modular components for booking calendars, dynamic pricing, and cart summaries.

  • Prototyping flows for onboarding, consent capture, cart management, and voucher redemption.

  • Ensuring consistency and scalability across all sports types, with a custom flow for Pilates bookings.

  • Collaborating with developers to validate and refine interactions, edge cases, and booking rules.

The design system was built with scalability in mind, enabling easy extension for future features like coaching and multi-sport bookings.

Solution

Courtside launched as a comprehensive digital platform that transformed the way members engage with the club. The solution:

  • Enabled easy onboarding with OTP-based login and introductory carousel.

  • Delivered intelligent booking flows with real-time slot visibility, dynamic pricing, and booking caps based on membership tier.

  • Simplified booking management through transfers, invites, and cancellations governed by configurable time rules.

  • Integrated a multi-layered cart that handled sport-specific add-ons, guest day passes, vouchers, and in-app point redemptions.

  • Empowered users with a self-serve profile, real-time membership and package tracking, and notification center.

  • Allowed the club to automate renewals, handle waitlists, and issue vouchers—all through a unified system.

The result was a platform that not only reduced administrative burden but also delivered a seamless, mobile-first experience for club members—boosting engagement, improving retention, and setting a foundation for scalable digital operations.
